Kris Knoblauch's selection on Wednesday to the the coaching staff of the Philadelphia Flyers has generated a lot of discussion about his exceptional success with the Erie Otters and his ability to get the most out of every player. Kris recognized early in his career that while the "X's and O's" are necessary, it's the people side of coaching that has the greatest impact. Coach Knoblauch's continual desire to learn and effectively apply the knowledge is one of his strongest attributes.
For the past three seasons, CoreFive Analytics has worked with Kris and his coaching staff to develop Player Analytics Profiles that present a multiple perspective view of the player. The profiles provide Kris and his staff with a deep understanding of the player's behavior, their motivations, how they think, how they respond to stress and how to best communicate with them. The profiles also identify player strengths and areas for development. Coach Knoblauch's strength as a communicator and relationship builder is evident in the team's success and comments about Kris from current and former players.
Developing and applying the interpersonal skills to become an effective communicator and relationship builder is hard work. Kris recognized the need, did the work and is reaping the rewards. There are no shortcuts! The recognition and success Kris has achieved is well deserved. We wish Kris great success in his new role with the Flyers.
